How it works
Give it your video title and a couple of sentences on what the video covers; optionally add your target keyword, a chapter list (our Chapter Generator makes one from your video link), and any links you always include. The AI assembles a complete description: a hook line that surfaces in search results, a natural summary paragraph, your chapters and links, and a handful of relevant hashtags — ready to paste into YouTube Studio.
What makes a description work
Only the first two to three lines show before the “…more” fold, so the description's job is front-loaded: the opening line should contain your keyword and give a reason to keep watching or reading. Below the fold, a genuine summary helps YouTube understand the video's topic, chapters make long videos navigable and searchable, and consistent links turn every description into a small landing page for your channel.
Editing the draft
Treat the output as a strong first draft. Swap the hook into your own voice, check that every fact matches the actual video, and keep your standing links block consistent across uploads. Two or three well-chosen hashtags beat a wall of them — YouTube only displays the first three above the title.
Worked example: what a generated description looks like
For a video titled “I Tested 3 Budget Microphones Under $50” with a two-sentence summary and a pasted chapter list, the output looks like:
Which budget microphone actually sounds professional? I tested 3 popular mics under $50 with real, unedited audio samples. In this video I compare build quality, background-noise handling and raw sound so you can pick the right first mic for your channel. Chapters: 0:00 Intro 0:42 Testing setup 2:10 Mic #1 — audio sample 4:05 Mic #2 — audio sample 6:20 Mic #3 — audio sample 8:45 Verdict My gear list: https://example.com/gear #budgetmicrophone #youtubegear #microphonetest
The hook carries the keyword in the first line, the chapters came through verbatim, and the hashtags stay to three.
Frequently asked questions
Is the description writer free?+
Yes — no account or card needed. Free use includes 5 generations per day; accounts with higher limits are coming soon.
How long should a YouTube description be?+
YouTube allows 5,000 characters; 500–1,500 is the practical sweet spot. The first ~125 characters matter most — they're what shows in search results and above the fold.
Do keywords in the description help ranking?+
Yes, modestly — the description helps YouTube understand the video's topic, and the opening line can appear in search snippets. Write for humans first; repeating a keyword unnaturally does more harm than good.
How many hashtags should I use?+
Two or three relevant ones. YouTube shows at most three above your title, and using more than 60 causes all of them to be ignored.
Can it include my chapters?+
Yes — paste a chapter list (or generate one with our Chapter Generator first) and it's included verbatim, formatted the way YouTube expects.
