How it works
Enter your monthly views (or the views of any channel you're curious about) and pick a content niche. The calculator applies published RPM ranges — the revenue a creator actually receives per 1,000 views after YouTube's revenue share — and shows monthly and yearly earnings projections at the low, typical and high end of the range.
Why niche changes everything
Advertisers pay wildly different rates for different audiences. Finance and business content can earn ten times the RPM of entertainment or music, because a viewer researching investments is worth far more to advertisers than one watching memes. Audience geography matters too: US, UK, Canadian and Australian views pay several times more than views from most other countries.
Ad revenue is only the floor
For most successful creators, AdSense is the smallest income stream. Sponsorships typically pay several times more per view (use our Sponsorship Calculator to price those), and affiliate links, memberships and digital products scale on top. Treat the number above as your baseline, not your ceiling.
Frequently asked questions
How much money is 1,000 views on YouTube?+
Typically $1–$10 depending on niche and audience country. Entertainment channels often earn $1–3 per 1,000 views, while finance or business channels can earn $10–30, because advertiser demand differs enormously between audiences.
What is RPM vs CPM?+
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what you actually receive per 1,000 video views — after YouTube's ~45% share, and averaged over views that didn't show ads. RPM is the honest number for estimating income, and it's what this calculator uses.
How many views do I need to make $1,000 a month?+
At a $3 RPM (typical entertainment), about 333,000 monthly views. At a $10 RPM (tech, education), about 100,000. At a $20 RPM (finance), about 50,000. Niche choice changes the answer more than any other factor.
Do YouTube Shorts views count the same?+
No — Shorts monetize from a separate pool at a far lower rate, commonly around $0.05–$0.15 per 1,000 Shorts views. This calculator models long-form video RPM; treat Shorts revenue separately.
When can a channel start earning money?+
The YouTube Partner Program requires 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days (with a lower early-access tier for fan funding in many countries).
